Las Terrenas has a surprising food scene for its size: Dominican cooking, plenty of fish and seafood, and a strong Italian and French influence. Here's how it's spread out.

The town centre and Calle Libertad

Along the town beach you'll find restaurants with tables almost on the sand, pizzerias and cocktail bars. Just behind, Calle Duarte and El Paseo gather cafés, bakeries and wine bars. It's the most convenient area if you're staying in town: everything is walkable. See places in the centre.

The Fishermen's Village

The old fishermen's houses at the western end of the town beach became restaurants and bars. It's one of the liveliest spots as the sun goes down. See the Fishermen's Village.

Punta Popy and El Portillo, to the east

A long palm-lined beach with seafront restaurants, calmer than the centre. Further east, El Portillo has a few tables away from the bustle. Punta Popy · El Portillo.

Las Ballenas, Playa Bonita and Cosón, to the west

Practical tips

  • The bill: in the Dominican Republic restaurant bills usually include tax (ITBIS, 18%) and a 10% service charge. Check before adding a tip.
  • Pesos or dollars: many places take both currencies, but not always cards. If a listing says “Card payment: not available”, bring cash.
  • Catch of the day: ask the price per pound before ordering.
  • Weekends and high season: book on WhatsApp from the venue's listing.
  • Opening hours: they change with the season. Check the “Open now” status and the last-checked date on each listing.

To choose, use the directory and its filters (open now, price, sea view, cuisine) or the type pages: restaurants, pizza, cafés and breakfast.
