Watching the sunset in Las Terrenas

The Las Terrenas coast faces north onto the Atlantic: the sun sets over the west of the bay, towards Las Ballenas, Playa Bonita and Cosón. Depending on the season, it drops into the sea or behind the hills.

Where to sit

• In the Fishermen's Village and the western end of the town beach, looking across the bay: the classic spot for a first cocktail.
• In Las Ballenas and Playa Bonita, for dinner with your toes in the sand while the sky changes colour.
• In Cosón, if you prefer a wild, quiet beach.

Find places with a sea view and sunset or right on the beach.

Tips

• Tropical sunsets are quick: arrive 30 minutes early.
• In high season, book your seafront table on WhatsApp.
• Bring repellent: mosquitoes come out at dusk.
